Thurrock Council's ASB Team, along with police colleagues have successfully carried out a drugs raid at a property in East Tilbury.

The early morning raid took place after information was received from a member of the public who contacted the ASB Team via the online reporting facility and from this, Magistrates granted a search warrant.

Raiding the property early on Saturday 4^th August 2007, officers seized a number of plants and arrested a 27-year-old male. The male was later formally cautioned and the plants destroyed.

A fourth Final Intervention Panel was held on Thursday 15^th March 2007.

At the panel eight residents of Grays were seen and spoken to regarding theirs and their children's anti-social behaviour and as a result, the following sanctions decided on:

Three Warnings
Five Acceptable Behaviour Contracts (ABC's)
Two offers of referral to the Firebreak Scheme
Two Notice Seeking Possession (NSP)

A third Final Intervention Panel was held on Monday 12^th February 2007.

At the panel six residents of Purfleet were seen and spoken to regarding theirs and their children's anti-social behaviour and as a result, the following sanctions decided on:

The ASB Team working with members of the South Ockendon Neighbourhood Policing Team created the Final Intervention Panel process in late 2006.

HIGH SATISFACTION LEVELS WITH THE ASB TEAM

Customer satisfaction levels on contacting the ASB Team continue to remain high.

Complainants or witnesses contacting the team are asked to complete Quality of Service questionnaires in order to ensure that a high level of service is given - and the results are good.

Andrew Meyer - ASB Team Manager said,

"The results of returned questionnaires are extremely pleasing and show what our complainants and witnesses really think. Whilst we don't get everything right all of the time, we do try our hardest to give a good service and make a real difference. Where people are not entirely happy, we listen to what they have to say and look to learn from their feedback.

THE WHEELS GO ROUND - OR DO THEY?

Thurrock Council's ASB Team once again working in partnership with other council departments and on this occasion a government agency, taken swift action to combat an illegal parking issue, which had sparked numerous complaints from local residents.

The complaints related to a neighbour parking in excess of four vehicles that were left untaxed outside a residential address in Aveley. In addition to the untaxed vehicles; it was also noted that he parked on a daily basis a tow truck on a grass verge and as a result the verge had become damaged.

At the panel eleven residents of South Ockendon were seen and spoken to regarding theirs and their children's anti-social behaviour and as a result, the following sanctions decided on:

Nine Acceptable Behaviour Contracts (ABC's)
Two Parental Control Agreements (PCA's)
Three referrals to the Youth and Inclusion Support Panel (YISP)
Two Notice Seeking Possession (NSP)

POLICE AND COUNCIL PUT THEIR FOOT DOWN!

THE Police and a local council have been demonstrating their zero-tolerance approach to eradicating anti-social behaviour from a town in south-west Essex.

Officers from South Ockendon's Neighbourhood Policing Team have been working closely with Thurrock Councils Anti-Social Behaviour Team identifying known troublemakers and holding them to account.

Over two days in August, the teams targeted the Garrison Estate in Purfleet and from this those identified were called to a Final Intervention Panel in October made up of police and council officers. Here the evidence of their crimes was put to them and a decision made on action to be taken, ranging from Warnings to Acceptable Behaviour Contracts (ABC's) and Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (ASBO's) to Possession Proceedings. On the day these sanctions were agreed:

ASB TEAM TARGET ESTATE

Anti-social behaviour in and around the Garrison Estate in Purfleet has been on the increase.

Staff at Thurrock Council's Purfleet Area Office had noticed the increase both because they are based in the estate and an increasing number of complaints.

The council's Anti-Social Behaviour Team decided to do something about the situation and has so far targeted the estate on two separate occasions armed with CCTV footage of perpetrators.

COURT ACTION TAKEN AGAINST TENANT

Court action has made life more secure and safe for residents and Thurrock Council staff after the council won an injunction to stop a man threatening them.

Basildon Combined Court heard that the council initially attempted to speak with Daron Hawkes of South Ockendon, as he was in breach of his tenancy agreement, but he failed to attend an appointment and a visit to his home led to more threats.

ILLEGAL RIDERS FACE EVICTION

The crackdown on people who are involved in the illegal riding and use of 'mini-moto' motorbikes is continuing.

Action was recently taken by Thurrock Council's Anti-Social Behaviour Team against a council tenant on the Garrison Estate at Purfleet.

Although the tenant herself was not riding the bike, her nine-year-old son and her partner, were both caught on the machine - without helmets or insurance.
